Maria is a results-driven servant leader with over a decade of operations experience spanning across non-for-profit, corporate and the executive branch of government sectors.

Maria works as the CEO of Marico Consulting, an operations and product design firm. Maria and her husband Rico, created this firm in 2018 to help businesses develop better products and systems. This firm is a combination of Maria and Rico’s specialized experience in their respective fields. 

Maria has most recently served as the Operations Director for Planned Parenthood’s political canvass corporation, Community Outreach Group. As the Operations Director, Maria was responsible for: human resources, accounting, finance & budget, information technology, compliance and risk management, and procurement. Prior to the Operations Director position, Maria served as the Chief Administration Officer at a Washington, DC based start-up political consulting firm. During this time, Maria managed the office operations and financial administration of the firm. Maria’s political prowess was cultivated in her various roles for the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, beginning when he was a Senator. Maria’s roles include serving in Operations at the White House Operation Office within Management and Administration, the Obama – Biden Transition Team (Accounting), and the Obama for America (OFA) presidential campaign (Senior Accountant, Organizer in the following states; IA, IN, MN, NV, OH, PA).

Maria was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa where she grew up in foster care and later adopted. The Waterloo Community played an enormous role in Maria’s life and is one of the reasons she believes in giving back and volunteering. Maria is a proud graduate of Waterloo East High school. She spent her first college years at the University of Northern Iowa before transferring and graduating from Florida A&M University with her bachelor of science in Accounting. After undergrad, Maria received a Master of Business Administration from Ashford University. Maria now resides in Maryland with her husband and two sons. She enjoys cycling on the peloton, planning, and traveling with her family.
